Published 8 months, 3 weeks ago in Where I Live.A little while back I predicted that clowncil’s new approach to ‘consultation’ was really another form of Clayton’s consultation. Well folks, I should go into the clairvoyant business. The so called ‘results’ of the recent 6 ‘community forums’ are now public, as is the so-called ‘Community Plan’. Please note that this is a total misnomer. It is NOT a community plan, but a CLOWNCIL PLAN. Nothing, but absolutely nothing, that over 200 people commented upon has really been included in clowncil’s ‘action plan’. Environment issues remain restricted to the planting of trees and grass on sporting ovals, there is miniscule attention to silt buildup, parking, etc. Planning issues and their impact on the environment are totally ignored, etc. etc. etc.
Once I’ve had time to fully digest this atrocity, I’ll report more fully. But, for the time being, what is absolutely clear is that this clowncil is simply pushing ahead with what it always intended. Residents’ concerns have not been addressed, nor have they in fact even been recognised in this action plan. ‘Consultation’ remains nothing but a sham.

Well in fairness to the Council why should they “listen” to anything we say, when the elected Councillors bend over backwards to accomodate anything the administration wants of them.
They (the Councillors) don’t genuinely represent the interests of the residents as I am very aware of how selectively the comments were reported.
In particular one person said get rid of smaller parks to which I immediately objected, saying the frail elderly can’t walk to distant parks and driving a car was not an option. His point was noted, mine was not!
The Councillors are so busy been seen as a “cohesive body” they’ve missed the point of their Mission Statement. Residents have to work very hard up to the next Council Elections to ensure this changes the next time around for four years duration……
The real issue isn’t even clowncil’s rose-coloured reporting of the 6 forums. Yes, all negative comments have been toned down and yes, some criticisms were left out, and other laudatory stuff re clowncil was put in. This was to be expected! They certainly aren’t going to catalogue and make it really public the way that numerous individuals berated and chastised this clowncil for its numerous failures. What is totally unforgiveable is the RESPONSE to these forums - the way that ‘non-answers’ remain the standard modus operandi of this mob, and the total lack of respect and recognition for what the community wants. The plans concocted in the CEO’s office are set in concrete and nothing will change this unless we elect an entire new set of councillors who have the vision, integrity and courage to stand up to this administration and demand real consultation, transparency and accountability. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - when your elected representatives fail dismally to represent you, then they must go!!
