We’re all ‘dummies’

According to the kingdom of Glen Eira, the reason why this clowncil refuses to even investigate the possibility of introducing time zones for off leash areas is that it would prove too ‘confusing’ for residents!! In other words, the citizens of Glen Eira are really ‘dummies’ and unlike other councils cannot read signage. Interestingly, neighbouring metropolitan councils do not hold the same view. For example, Stonnington has two parks which use time zones for off leash walking; Hobson’s Bay has three; Maribrynong also has three parks, and the Mornington Peninsula has one. None of the above are beach areas, but residential ‘parks’. The fact that Glen Eira steadfastly refuses to even acknowledge this fact (insisting that only beaches are suitable for timed zones) is further evidence of the intractable nature of this clowncil. What also needs to be borne in mind is that currently 80% of off leash zones comprise sporting ovals, so once again dog owners who represent the largest constituency (40%) are treated as second rate citizens and their intelligence insulted by arguments that introducing timed zones would be ‘confusing’!

Roll on November 2008 elections!

    Clowncil.
    Hahahahahaa.
I think you may be spot on there from the sounds of it. Have you forwarded them a copy of the above very articulate missive? Do they have any response?

sadly, I can’t claim credit for ‘clowncil’ - this belongs to Money & Carbone in their Diary section of the Age. I also like the Friends of Caulfield Park epithet of Glen Eira Coincil!!! Such nomenclature is wonderfully accurate and sums up the situation perfectly.
